Mysteriet er sjælens bolig

Mit maleri har mange rødder.
Den Jungianske psykoanalyse viste tidligt vejen ind i en ubeskrivelig stor sjælelig verden.
Erik Olson, den store svenske maler, surrealist og ny-surrealist fra ”Halmstadgruppen”, har en afgørende betydning for mig. Hans malerier åbnede for længe siden mine øjne for en kunst udover det synlige, men som dog alligevel formmæssigt er forankret i den visuelle, figurative, virkelighed.
Jeg arbejder i en klassisk clair obscure-teknik, ud fra min fascination af malere som fx Tizian, Caravaggio og Rembrandt, som gennem denne teknik lykkedes at forene både lyset og mørket i et billede til et samlet hele.

Samtidig med min forankring i denne malertradition, er jeg inspireret af film af instruktører som fx David Lynch, Ingmar Bergman og Andrej Tarkovskij , men også af forfattere som bl.a. Fjodor Dostojevskij, Paul Auster og Haruki Murakami.

Efter flere stilskift, bl.a. en lang tid med arbejde ud fra min interesse for klassisk og arkaisk græsk skulptur, arbejder jeg siden 2001 på en suite malerier med fællestitlen ”City Of The Mysteries”: En ukendt, moderne storby. Mennesketom, men hvor menneskenes liv ”arkæologisk” afdækkes indirekte af deres efterladte artefakter, huse, gader etc., men også af deres forladte, hemmelige, aflåste, skjulte, ubevidste rum:
Menneskets usynlige tilstedeværelse.


The Mystery is the dwelling of the soul.

My art has many roots.
Early the Jungian psychology showed me the way into an indescribably vast world of the soul.
The famous Swedish surrealist and neo-surrealist painter from the “Halmstadgroup”, Erik Olson, is of vital importance for me. Long time ago his paintings opened my eyes for an art beyond the visible, but at the same time also in its matter of form rooted in the visual, figurative reality.

I work in a classical clair obscure technique, grounded in my fascination of painters like Titian, Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Those who, through this technique, managed to unite both the light and the dark side of a painting into one whole.

In parallel to this tradition, I am also inspired of films by directors as for example David Lynch, Ingmar Bergman and Andrei Tarkovsky and authors like Feodor Dostoevsky, Paul Auster and Haruki Murakami .

After some stylistic changes, and having worked with motifs from my fascination of Greek sculpture, since 2001 now I work with a suite of paintings titled “City Of The Mysteries”: An unknown, modern, abandoned metropolis,
where the human life is indirectly ”archeologically “ unveiled by their artifacts, houses, streets etc. but also by their secret, closed and hidden unconscious rooms left behind:
The invisible presence of Man.
